I have bought several stocks from Boyds. Fit is good and ready to glass bed your receiver. Boyds laminate stocks are good for the cheap price. Laminate stocks are very heavy. If your rifle has wood or plastic stock, expect significant weight penalty. Their maple wood is weak sauce. If you want pretty wood, look elsewhere.

Pros:
  • Quality laminate
  • Fit
Cons:
  • Lady on phone very unpleasant
  • Ebony caps and grip caps are cheap trashy plastic
  • Stocks are squarish around mag well and receiver

User's recommendation: Want pretty wood? Look elsewhere. Good for laminate stocks. Fits right out of the box

No honoring advertised price

I just called your customer service intending to order 3 of your gunstocks for the Axis rifles that are advertised for 99.00 with a video of Randy Boyd working on a rifle......your customer service was unable to help...just said sorry. Since I am a Tennessee Lawyer i recognize this as the problem that it is.... Perhaps you should take this down if you are not going to honor the advertised price. I ordered a Springfield 1903 stock to restore my 85 year old father's rifle to give to my son for Christmas. I emailed them attached photos of some imperfections and cracks between the laminate. I'm disappointed that there was not better visual quality control before it was shipped. They do not respond back after phone messages and emails. My regret is that I didn't go with Champion synthetic stock. I would not buy again.

First off, I have been a Boyd's customer for years. But the new web site, and current customer service is horrible! I wanted a padded butt plate and the site would not let me order it. Then when customer service called me back, they told me we cant fix an order once it's placed! It was 10 minutes later! I think I'm going to find another place to buy my stocks! The woman that called had the attitude of a flight attendant!

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product replacement.

Updated by user Jul 29, 2020

Finally made it right. Received the new one yesterday and fit like a glove.

It took a while, but Boyds stood behind their product/workmanship and corrected deficiencies. Good example of a company following through on things

Updated by user Feb 11, 2020

Boyds customer service finally got back with me. Said they are making a new stock and will hand fit to an in-house action. Also said to keep the old one...I will update when received

Original review Feb 07, 2020
Ordered a savage 220 a year ago, fit like a glove. Kickeez pad shredded after about 10 rounds sighting in...they replaced it promptly, problem is they glued it on as well as screws...oh well, they somewhat took care of the issue.

They did credit me money to have the new pad put on without me asking for it. I inquired about a 220 left hand, got an email they just started offering so I ordered the next day. I expected the same fit...NOT. Three stocks later &;;;;;;;;;; the bolt handle channel is off...way off.

Sent it back (no charge), got the next one...same peoples, plus this time the magazine would not fit and the wood screw for trigger guard was so close to the edge of the wood that it cracked when I screwed in. They said they would replace...sent it back again, few weeks later (their timing is reasonable) got another stock. SAME issue with the bolt handle channel. Emailed them and three days later...

no response. Called and got the famous voicemail. Emailed again asking if they got my email. Probably going to ask for a full refund or just dispute the credit card charge.

I suppose I can take to a gunsmith for $60-$80 bucks if they credit me back. Overall customer service is 2.5 out of 5 because of the long delays in answering, quality (taking both stocks into account) is 2.5 out of 5.

So disappointed, the first one was perfect and timely, but the 220LH. First one would be 4.5 second I cannot give negative stars

Qusstion about stock

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called on numerous occasions without an answer. I just wanted to know if the classic stock for the short action savage model 11 was for a sporter barrel or a heavy varmint

I ordered an AT-One for my Kimber 82G with very good results. It did take longer, about a month in total, to receive it, but that was OK. The fit and finish was very good and only took about fifteen minutes to install the action. I did order their Pillar Post bedding after the initial order but that did not come through and the credit was issued when they shipped the stock. Considering my previous experiences with gun stock makers I have to say that Boyd's did a wonderful job with my order.

They use 3rd party nameless suppliers. Check your stock immediately after receiving it. Quality issues are almost always problematic. (i.e. poor wood quality, fit, and irregular staining patterns and grains). Customer Service is almost nonexistent. This has turned into an internet garage business. No quality pictures of current stock, just some generic 1-dementional picture.

How guns work

Boyds Gunstocks - How guns work

Contacted Boyd's to inquire about a replacement stock for my MDM Buckwacka in a .50cal due to their site not having anything listed for a 50, spoke with a woman who stated that if I changed the barrell, that they could help me. Im not an educated gun smith or manufacture, but I dont see how changing the barrel on the gun has any significance to the butt stock. Am I the only one who finds this a little odd?

Yes that is odd. I often change barrels and stocks at or around the same time when customizing a rifle.

Boyds used to be a good company, but since they changed the website about 2 years ago it is difficult to shop online and customer service has become poor. A great example of a good product/company gone bad. Plus, people buy the clearance/blems and sell them on ebay and Gunbroker for outrageous prices. I get their "rapid fire discount" emails, but seriously, there is no great discount at all and there are 600 listings.

Sorry, but they're not fooling anyone with that tactic.

I have all but given up on Boyds. Good luck with your problem.

Don’t do business with Boyd.

Ordered a stock a month ago. Haven’t received a confirmation email or no details on it since. Ordered November 15th and haven’t heard anything from them since. Checked with the bank and the money for the stock did come out so I need answers. Either my money back or my stock, preferably my stock. Not been a good experience, not happy with Boyd. Bad for business. I need answers now.

Treat their employees like *** and if someone who has been there years dont like you everyone tries to lie about you or put the blame on you for everything. Good workers get shafted while ones that dont care get praised.

Its a high school cliche atmosphere. Management has no clue how to run a plant or communicate effictively with employees and each other. Unrealistic goals and managing. Overwork no breaks at longer hours and have to use vacation for longer hours if you have an appointment or a family emergency.

Faithful employees get treated the worst if God forbid they are sick for once or have to call in one day when they never miss work. Total lack of caring and promote people that have barely been there over people who been there for a few years with a lot of experience just because they are buddy buddy.
